Brad Davis, Ph.D., S.E.,

Brad Davis received his B.S. in 1994, his M.S. in 1996, and his Ph.D. in 2008 in civil engineering at Virginia Tech.



After earning his master’s degree, he worked for American Buildings Company in Eufaula, Alabama, as a research engineer from 1996-1997 and then as a structural design engineer from 1997 to 2005. His projects included several very large medical facilities, such as: Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.; Porter Adventist Hospital additions in Denver, Colo.; StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tenn.; Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, Fla.; and Vanderbilt University Medical Center master plan implementation in Nashville, Tenn. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as a research assistant in the Virginia Tech Structures Lab.



In 2009, Dr. Davis joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky as an assistant professor. During his short tenure at the University of Kentucky, he has received the 2009 Outstanding Civil Engineering Faculty Award from its Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society and an outstanding paper award at the 2008 American Society of Civil Engineers Architectural Engineering National Conference. He has two papers in refereed journals, has been successful in obtaining three externally funded research grants, and has been an invited speaker at several seminars.



He is very active professionally and is one of the youngest members of the prestigious American Institute of Steel Construction Committee on Manuals and Textbooks.



Dr. Davis has been married to his wife Angela for 16 years and they have four children: Allen, Evie, Myra, and Zachary.
