Alan T. Lingerfelt, P.E.,
1976 B.S. Civil Engineering

Alan T. Lingerfelt earned his B.S. in 1976 from Virginia Tech in civil engineering. He has been active in real estate development for over 30 years, producing over 10 million square feet of commercial and industrial real estate developments and acquisitions in six states.



His dedication to the real estate industry has cultivated mutually long-term relationships with tenants, lenders, partners, and the communities in which Lingerfelt Development serves.



In March of 1995, Mr. Lingerfelt orchestrated the merger of his company, Lingerfelt Development Corporation, with Liberty Property Trust (NYSE:LRY), a $6.1 billion real estate investment trust, and served as senior vice president for over 12 years. During that time, Mr. Lingerfelt was responsible for overseeing the strategic direction for development, acquisition, and management of the Virginia region. Throughout Mr. Lingerfelt’s tenure with Liberty Property Trust, he helped to increase the company’s portfolio in the region by over 300 percent.



Mr. Lingerfelt continues his tradition of quality development with an extensive portfolio that reflects experience working with numerous major corporate and government tenants, including many Fortune 500 companies.



Mr. Lingerfelt is a graduate of Virginia Tech and completed graduate study at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.



Past and present affiliations include: president, American Society of Civil Engineers-Virginia; founding chair, Richmond Joint Engineers Council; president, Skidmore Hunt Association; president, National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, Virginia; president, VCU Circle of Excellence; member, VCU Real Estate Foundation Board; fellow, Rotary International; and president, Richmond Real Estate Group.



At Virginia Tech, he is a member of Ut Prosim and has served the university in numerous ways, including on the College of Engineering’s Advisory Board and Committee of 100, the CEE Alumni Board, and the Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science (ICTAS) task force. He also has funded an endowed scholarship in the Department of Civil Engineering.



Mr. Lingerfelt is married and has four children and two grandchildren. The family includes three generations of civil engineering graduates; both his parents and all four children are Hokies.
