James G. Davis graduated from the Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s in civil engineering in 1980. During his time as a student Davis was involved in several organizations, including his service as Chief Justice of the Honor System (1979-1980). He was awarded Outstanding Senior by the College of Engineering in 1980.



Founded in 1966, James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS) serves as an award winning general contractor, construction manager, and design-build partner for base building, renovation, interior and sustainable construction in the Washington, DC area. As President and CEO of James G. Davis Construction Corporation (DAVIS) since 1988, Davis oversees operations strategy, key project, development, and client relations. For the past 30 years, his foresight, intelligence, and genuine passion have helped transform the small family business into a nationally recognized construction leader. Clients and employees alike recognize him for his emphasis on teamwork, commitment to quality and excellence in service, and ensuring the firm-wide management practice of putting the client first.



Davis is proud of the company’s reputation for honesty and integrity; a reputation that is supported by the demonstrated belief that corporate responsibility extends well beyond the bottom line. DAVIS has a genuine passion for giving back to the community, and has established long and meaningful relationships with many nonprofit organizations, educations providers, small and minority businesses, and community groups. Davis continues to lead the charge at DAVIS, engaging employees at every level to contribute to the company’s community service efforts.



Davis credits his father and company founder, James G. Davis, Sr., for instilling the importance of integrity in everything that DAVIS does, both professionally and personally.

Davis is active with many professional organizations and serves on several boards including the World Presidents Organization (WPO), American Woodmark Corporation, Chapman’s Mill Turn the Mill Around, and DC Students Construction Trades Foundation. He was most recently elected to serve on the National Building Museum’s board of trustees, and is regularly invited to speak at industry events throughout the area.



Davis and his wife Shannon have three children: Meghan, Kara and Charlotte.
