Courtney Beamon is a native of the Richmond area who followed in the footsteps of her father by attending Virginia Tech and studying civil engineering (CE). While on campus, she was active in many student orga-nizations and received several honors recognizing her accomplishments.



She served as editor-in-chief of The Bugle, the yearbook of Virginia Tech in 1993 and 1994, and sat on the student media board. As a member of Delta Gamma women’s fraternity, Ms. Beamon served on the chapter programming board, acted as the fraternity’s historian, and filled the alumnae relations chair. She also worked with the Recruiting Student Vol-unteer Program conducting campus tours; was a staff member of Prologue, the New Student Orientation Program; was involved with the College of Engineering Mentoring Program; and acted as publicity chair on the Ring Dance committee. In addition, Ms. Beamon served as the SGA representa-tive on the Parking and Transportation committee; as the president of the Intelligent Transportation Systems of America; as vice president of the Institute of Transportation Engineers; and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.



Ms. Beamon received multiple scholarships; was in Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities; was a member of Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society), Order of Omega (Greek Lead-ership Honor Society), Order of the Gavel (Student Leadership Honor Society), and Gamma Sigma Alpha (Academic Greek Honor Society).



After completing her CE education, Ms. Beamon pursued professional licensure as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in Virginia (1995) and a Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia (2000).



Upon graduation from her engineering master’s program in 1996, she joined Delta Airport Consultants, Inc. an 85-person firm that specializes in airport planning and engineering across the nation. Ms. Beamon started as a project designer/project planner in 1996, became a project engineer in 2000, has served as project manager from 2000 to the present, and as director of marketing since 2002.



Ms. Beamon has enjoyed the opportunity to work with general aviation and commercial service airports across the country, serving as the PM on both airside and landside projects. She has also led Airport Master Planning efforts and En-vironmental Assessments for the firm. As director of marketing, Ms. Beamon is responsible for the business development activities for each of Delta’s seven offices. She has a particular interest and expertise in airspace obstructions and instru-ment approach procedures.



In 2007, she attended an Executive MBA program at Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated as one of the top in her class. She was honored with membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.



Today, Ms. Beamon is part owner of Delta Airport Consultants, Inc., is a member of the firm’s board of directors, and serves as the chief financial officer. During her 11-year tenure at the firm, she has been instrumental in improving the firm’s employee recruiting and retention initiatives. She has also worked to develop a formal internship program, which is designed to introduce college students to the aviation industry as well as to the firm.



During her time in the airport consulting industry, she has become passionate about aviation. She has held her private pilot certificate for 10 years and in 2006 became a certified member of AAAE, the American Association of Airport Executives.



Nationally, she is active in Airport Consultants Council, a trade organization representing the airport development industry. She has held a number of positions in the organization, including: board of governors (current); vice chair of the ACC/AAAE Planning Design and Construction Symposium; chair of the education committee and Best Practices Awards; chair of the Globalization and International Affairs committee; and chair of the ACC/FAA/TSA Summer Workshop series.



Ms. Beamon is also a familiar face to many throughout the Virginia aviation community, helping out in any way she can with a variety of organizations. Her activities include: board of directors, Virginia Aviation Foundation (currently Vice Chair); board of directors, Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society; and Virginia Aviation Conference Planning Commit-tee. Additionally, she currently serves on the alumni board for the civil and environmental engineering department at Virginia Tech.



Outside of her professional commitments, Ms. Beamon enjoys a wide range of outdoor pursuits including snow skiing, kayaking, and reading a good book in a beach chair. She resides in her hometown of Midlothian, Virginia with her hus-band, Spencer Waddell, Jr. and her stepson, Spencer Waddell, III.
