CEE 4614 : ADVANCED STRUCTURAL CONCRETES
Course Description :

Fundamental properties of portland cement concretes. Concrete mixture design procedures. Testing of fresh and hardened properties of concrete. Durability and degradation mechanisms. Condition assessments, forensic materials engineering, and repair strategies.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Design portland cement concrete mixtures to meet specified criteria, such as strength and durability.
  • Prepare fresh portland cement concrete in the laboratory and determine the fresh and hardened properties according to standardized tests.
  • Differentiate between the degradation modes and their mechanisms for portland cement concrete materials.
  • Evaluate and interpret standardized test results for portland cement concrete materials.
  • Develop laboratory testing plans for condition assessment and forensic materials engineering of portland cement concrete structures and strategies for repair.
