CEE 5630 : PUBLIC TRANSIT DESIGN AND OPERATIONS
Course Description :

This course will focus on a review of selected concepts, principles, and methods associated with the application of information technologies in public transit. Emphasis will be placed on systems and technologies employed to deploy intelligent transportation system (ITS), user services including advanced traveler information systems, traffic signal control and priority, electronic payment systems and public transportation operations.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Create an awareness of and generate discussion of major public transit related issues and problems in the United States.
  • Review concepts, principles and methods associated with the application of information, communications, computer, sensor, and control systems and technologies in the provision of advanced public transit services and facilities intended to respond to these issues and problems.
  • Assist in the enhancement of students' process skills including their ability to think conceptually and analytically and their ability to communicate orally and in writing.
