CEE 4304 : HYDROLOGY
Course Description :

Precipitation, evaporation, consumptive use, infiltration; stream flow, flood routing; statistical analysis of hydrologic data, flood and drought forecasting, risk analysis, subsurface flow, well hydraulics, introduction to urban drainage design.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Delineate watershed boundaries and measure drainage areas using topographic maps.
  • Use simple water budget to estimate water losses and gains due to precipitation, evaporation, surface runoff, groundwater, and infiltration.
  • Use streamflow and precipitation data from the internet.
  • Develop a design rainfall event and the corresponding hydrograph by unit hydrograph methods.
  • Route flood hydrographs through river channels and reservoirs.
  • Estimate peak flow rates by flood frequency methods for gauged and ungauged streams.
  • Apply computing and writing skills to hydrologic engineering problems.
