CEE 4254 : MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING
Course Description :

An introduction to the field of municipal engineering. Infrastructure, capital projects, financing, sustainability, disaster planning and response and plan review for development projects.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Identify and analyze some of the major issues or challenges facing public works or municipal engineering officials.
  • Explain how a locality plans, finances, and builds adequate public infrastructure such as roads, solid waste facilities, water and sewer systems, and other public facilities.
  • Describe how local ordinances are used in public works.
  • Apply sustainability principles in the development of municipal projects.
  • Describe the role of public works officials and municipal engineers in the planning and response to natural disasters.
  • Use municipal plan review techniques on actual sets of plans.

Course Comment :
This course may be counted as an Advanced Course in the Land Development specialty area. This course will be offered every other year alternating with CEE 4284 ~ Advanced Land Development Design. Please VERIFY with the CEE Department or LDDI representatives for the course schedule.
