Effects, regulation, sources, and control of air pollution. Application of engineering calculations and models to estimate emissions, predict pollutant concentrations, and design pollution control equipment.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Recognize major legislation governing air pollution
  • Estimate air emissions from different sources
  • Predict pollutant concentrations near an air pollution source
  • Recommend control strategies for specific air polution problems
  • Propose solutions to air pollution control problems (in writing and presentation)
  • Derive and apply mechanistically based models to predict pollutant concentrations indoors and outdoors
