CEE 5480 : STEEL BRIDGE DESIGN
Course Description :

The primary course objective is to introduce the design of steel highway bridges using Load & Resistance Factor Design (LRFD). Each student will develop a design project that covers many of the significant aspects of the design process. The course will prepare students to pursue a career in highway bridge design or research. In addition, familiarity with the content and organization of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, as well as applicable loads and load distribution will be emphasized.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Describe the AASHTO load combinations and loading configurations.
  • Analyze and design concrete bridge decks.
  • Analyze and design steel plate girders.
  • Analyze and design bridge bracing members.
