CEE 5874 : COASTAL AND MARINE GEOTECHNICS
Course Description :

Geotechnical aspects of coastal and marine engineering. The coastal zone as a working environment. Geotechnical properties of beach and seafloor sediments, methods and processes for subaqueous and coastal site investigations, complementary techniques for investigation. In-situ survey strategies, planning and management.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Define and analyze coastal processes and their relevance for field investigation.
  • Evaluate geotechnical characteristics of seafloor sediments.
  • Analyze and interpret sediment strength and pore pressure profiles of the seafloor and beach sediments.
  • Identify and schedule suitable measurement devices, deployment techniques, survey periods and vessels.
  • Design and manage survey strategies for a geotechnical site characterization.
