CEE 5254 : ADVANCED MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING
Course Description :

Filed of municipal engineering. Infrastructure, capital projects, financing, sustainability, disaster planning and response, and municipal plan review techniques.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Analyze major issues and challenges facing public works or municipal engineering officials.
  • Analyze how a locality plans, finances, and builds adequate public infrastructure: roads, solid waste facilities, water and sewere systems, and other public facilities.
  • Research how local ordinances are used in public works.
  • Apply sustainability principles in the development of municipal projects.
  • Illustrate the role of public works officials and municipal engineers in the planning and response to natural disasters.
  • Employ municipal plan review techniques on actual sets of plans.
  • Critique articles published in public works, urban technology, planning and municipal engineering journals.
