CEE 5984 : (SPRING 2020) BLAST ANALYSIS AND PROTECTIVE DESIGN
Course Description :

Analysis and design of structural and non-structural systems subject to blast loads. Explosives and blast phenomenology. Material behavior at high strain rates. Structural dynamics of blast loaded structures. General consideration for blast resistant design. Design and detailing of blast-resistant concrete, structural steel, and masonry structures. Retrofitting and hardening of existing structures. Physical security, and blast risk and threat assessment. Software tools for blast pressure calculations (semi-empirical OverPressure, CFD), and dynamic analysis (SDOF RCBlast, FEA, will be utilized throughout.
