CEE 5134 : ENGINEERING ASPECTS OF WATER QUALITY
Course Description :

The application of biological, chemical, and physical principles of water quality to engineering problems in surface waters.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Understand and describe impacts of pollution sources, morphology, heat, and light on lake and reservoir water quality.
  • Analyze water quality datasets in order to characterize the trophic state of lakes or impoundments.
  • Estimate key water quality constituent loads originating from watershed point and nonpoint sources.
  • Use key pollutant loading data to predict impacts on lake or reservoir water quality and trophic state.
  • Identify appropriate nonpoint source and urban runoff control technologies to mitigate downstream water quality impacts.
  • Identify appropriate lake and reservoir management techniques to restore and maintain water quality.
