CEE 5204 : GIS APPLICATIONS IN CEE
Course Description :

Examination of data structures used in geographic information systems. Map projections and coordinate systems used in mapping. Database creation, maintenance, and integrity. Applications of GIs methods for solving civil engineering problems in land management and related areas.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Utilize state plane, UTM, and latitude/longitude coordinate systems and understand basic geodesy, including datums and projections.
  • Create maps of various cartographic styles.
  • Perform vector spatial analysis and geoprocessing operations.
  • Create and use existing terrain models.
  • Use (grid) GIS for modeling engineering processes.
  • Use various types of digital data to complete several applied group projects.
