CEE 2804 : INTRODUCTION TO CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
Course Description :

Overview of the specialty areas within the civil engineering profession, professional engineer licensing, and engineering ethics. Includes recognizing contemporary issues in civil engineering, civil engineering work in the surrounding community, and the impact of civil engineering solutions on society. Emphasizes successful personal business practices for civil engineering professionals, to include the fundamentals of effective oral, written, and visual communication skills for the Civil Engineer. Introduction to engineering library resources.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Explain the specialty areas within the civil engineering profession.
  • Explain professional engineering licensing requirements and the importance of licensing to professional engineering practice.
  • Identify Civil Engineering work in the surrounding community.
  • Recognize the importance of the ASCE Code of Ethics and apply its principles to civil engineering practice.
  • Recognize contemporary civil engineering issues and the impact of civil engineering solutions on society.
  • Execute written, oral, and visual communications in a professional manner.
