Principles underlying the methods for the design of various elements of flexible and rigid pavements for highways and airports; climate and traffic effects; pavement management systems.
Specific Course Objectives :
Recognize the most significant factors for consideration in the design of flexible and rigid pavements
Analyze pavement systems using different analytical methods.
Determine pavement design input parameters, including traffic, materials, failure criteria, and reliability.
Design flexible and rigid pavement systems using different design methods.
Recognize the advantages and limitation of different pavement design approaches and methods.
Compare different pavement alternatives using life-cycle cost considerations.
Prepare a written report and an oral/visual presentation of a pavement design project
Work as a member of an integrated team to complete the project design, report, and presentation.
