CEE 4664 : PAVEMENT DESIGN
Course Description :

Principles underlying the methods for the design of various elements of flexible and rigid pavements for highways and airports; climate and traffic effects; pavement management systems.

Specific Course Objectives :
  • Recognize the most significant factors for consideration in the design of flexible and rigid pavements
  • Analyze pavement systems using different analytical methods.
  • Determine pavement design input parameters, including traffic, materials, failure criteria, and reliability.
  • Design flexible and rigid pavement systems using different design methods.
  • Recognize the advantages and limitation of different pavement design approaches and methods.
  • Compare different pavement alternatives using life-cycle cost considerations.
  • Prepare a written report and an oral/visual presentation of a pavement design project
  • Work as a member of an integrated team to complete the project design, report, and presentation.
