Clara M.A. Eichler
Biography
Clara studied Environmental Engineering at the Technical University in Berlin, Germany, after an excursion to Literature Studies at the Free University of Berlin. During her time at the Technical University, she worked as Layout Designer for a small publisher and as a Student Assistant in a project investigating anthropogenic trace organics and pathogens in the urban water cycle. Her master thesis was part of a project evaluating the relevance of trace organic substances in the stormwater runoff in Berlin; here she analyzed the correlation between stormwater pollutant concentrations and rain event characteristics.
Since January 2016, Clara works as a Research Associate at the Virginia Tech Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her research interests are semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) in the indoor environment, exposure assessment of chemicals in consumer products, wastewater process engineering, and renewable energy systems.
